Refunds & policies
The short version: you can get your money back if we can't format your book, your files are deleted 30 days after delivery, and AI tools assist the work while a person reviews it.
Refunds
- Before we start: full refund if you cancel before we begin work on your manuscript.
- If we can't format your book (for example, it turns out to need image layouts we don't offer): full refund.
- If KDP or IngramSpark flags a formatting problem we caused in a file we delivered: we fix it at no charge. If we can't fix it, full refund. Send us the platform's message within 30 days of delivery.
- Late delivery: if we haven't delivered within 72 hours of a complete intake, you can ask for a full refund instead of waiting.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe. Ask by email at clearworkhq+books@mail.grokbot.com.
We don't refund for changes of mind about the content of the book after delivery, but your two correction rounds cover layout changes and typos.
File deletion: 30 days after delivery
Your manuscript, our working files and your delivered files are deleted 30 days after delivery. Your intake form record is deleted at the same time. Download your files when you get them. If an order is cancelled or refunded, we delete everything 30 days after the order. You can ask us to delete everything sooner at any time.
AI-assisted service
AI tools assist our formatting: they help clean up the styles in your manuscript, convert it into print and EPUB layouts, and run checks. A person reviews every PDF and EPUB before it is delivered. We don't use your manuscript to train AI models, and we don't publish, sell or share it.
What we format
Text-only novels, memoirs, short story collections and simple nonfiction up to 200,000 words. We don't format image-heavy books, cookbooks, children's picture books or poetry with complex layouts.
Platform specs
We prepare files to the published specs in KDP's and IngramSpark's help pages as of the date of your order. KDP and IngramSpark decide what they accept, and their review is outside our control.
